A few words from Ryan

When I started at Teldon 12 years ago, one of the things I noticed was the company’s culture of openness to new ideas. While some people may shy away from change for change’s sake, I have to admit I love it. There’s never a dull moment here. Teldon’s willingness to think outside the box has made this company the leader in a fast-paced, ever-evolving field. Innovation and excitement define us.

I sometimes joke that my job description is to do everything that no one else wants to do. My primary responsibilities at Teldon include overseeing the long-term strategy of the company and providing the means for our team to perform at its very best. I want the kind of workplace where people brag to their friends about how great it is to work here, where employees feel inspired to take risks and create new ideas, where meaningful relationships are built, and where our customers’ expectations are more than met. There’s no reason we shouldn’t have one of the best work cultures in Canada and now I can say, that we do. Teldon has been recognized in 2016 as one of the Top 15 Great Places to Work for in Canada—I cannot say how proud I am of this accomplishment.

Those who know me would say if there’s one thing I’m never satisfied with it’s the status quo. Adaptability, evolution, and change characterize our culture.

Even as the publishing landscape continues to shift, our team thrives on some very basic principles: We’re family. We look out for each other. We treat everyone with respect. We love what we do. We work hard. We have fun.

Because our spirit is so strong and our collaborative approach so solid, we’re very good at what we do. At Teldon, we give a damn. Those are incredibly powerful words that are undervalued today, but I think these words define us.

To put it simply, I’d much rather have a culture that resembles a locker room than a board room.

I promised myself that if I ever woke up and thought, “I don’t want to go to work today,” that would be the day I should quit.

I don’t anticipate that happening here anytime soon.

Change is going to come, and I can’t wait to see what’s next—Teldon is ready.
